Last weekend I attended my first ever Convention in Exeter.
The three hour journey caused me to travel on the Friday, I do 2 hours there and back in a day but 3 hours (with the every likely chance of motorway delays) is too much.
Lisa, the show's organiser, had recommended a local hotel, so logistics were quite easy.
The venue was out of town a bit, as was the hotel, but everything worked really well.
I had already set up my table when Steve Tanner arrived.
Wandering around the hall I was pleased to see a really good balance of stalls.
Our little independent comic corner, 3 or 4 comic back issue dealers, a good number of toy stalls, some Pokemon cards, t-shirts and games... pretty much everything was covered, and it was nice to see no Fudge stall.
There was also lots of areas where you could take free photos with various vehicles or manikins.
The character from Coraline has always freaked me out a bit and this was as close as I could bring myself to get.
Saturday was pretty busy, after the first hour. Lots of interesting charts with people, a good number of whom bought one of more books.
Sunday, it turned out, was pretty much the same. I actually sold almost the same number of books on both days, which is very unusual.
And it was very nice of them to chuck a protective cover over my car for the weekend. 😀😀😀
All in all a very well balanced, well organised Convention. A pleasure to be at and Steve and I will certainly be back next year, looking to attend both the Cons in March and October.
