New special limited printing of Fastest Man

At TimeBomb Comics have a Subscription service called Quantum Prime.

Every issue of Quantum we produce a special variant cover version which is only available to subscribers and also look to include something a little special and also very limited.

with Quantum 6 Subscribers will also get the collected Whatever Happened To The World's Fastest Man? and for the first time it also includes the 5 page prequel, also illustrated by the very talented Marleen Lowe.

Andy Bloor has worked his magic on the design and it's no longer under a The Accent fake newspaper title but has moved to Strange Times.

I'm very happy with the result.

Quantum 5

Yep, just before Xmas Quantum 5 hit the stores. 

It features the last part of Whatever Happened To The World's Fastest Man?, who also features on the cover.

And some people have turned it into an ornament for their Christmas Tree (thanks for the photo Shaun).

You'll be able to find it in your local newsagents or W H Smith stores.

We hope you enjoy it, ideally reading it but if you prefer to use it for your Christmas Tree then that's good also.

I accept that art is very subjective, and have no problem with David's comments, but I love the way Marleen captured and added to the story with her great style and technique.

Playing around with another doodle whilst also pulling together my From SuperZeroes to SuperHeroes little hardcover book.
Andy Bloor has produced a great pinup for Stephensons's Robot issue 4, which is now complete and will be going through the print process over the coming weeks.
And, we've had some great feedback on our books over at Pipedreamcomics.co.uk, they found Stephenson's Robot a little difficult to follow but really enjoyed Fastest Man and WesterNoir.

Giant Monsters Attack...but not Accent UK comics...

I got a tweet yesterday from Giant Monsters Attack...

I remember the two guys buying some books at last weekend's Manchester MCM, and I remember them saying that they did a local Podcast ... it's always really interesting to hear what people think of our books and I used to love listening to the Tales From the Parent's Basement, Burnt Weiners and Small Press Big Mouth podcasts a few years ago, but one after another these all ended.
So... armed with my iPhone, which makes all of this a lot easier, I followed the link...

Turns out I had to download a new App onto myPhone, PodBean, but as usual this was pretty painless,and then a quick search and I was subscribed.

I decided to dive straight in and listen to Episode 39 - Love Interest as I was keen to hear what the guys thought of our efforts. 

Wow, they really enjoyed them and are very respectful in that they call out all the creators involved in the books, which is really nice. 

I listened to the whole episode in the end and it was good to hear their very positive comments about Mike Garley's very interesting The Killscreen and to find throughout the podcast that they had pretty balanced views and were quite willing to say they didn't like something if that was the case.

We've been invited into their Shed (which I think is their secret lair) for an interview, which we'll be sorting out in the very near future.

Manny over at Whatever Comics sent me this the other day. It always gives me a lift when I get something like this. Thanks to Manny for continuing to promote our books in his store and also to Josh for taking the time to pop this on Facebook.

The Rufus Trimble of Infinuum 1001137.

Another of my Rufus Trimble character collages, this time it's the Rufus from Infinuum 1001137.

I've been distracted a little of late... but in a good way.
Having written the working script for Issue 2 of WesterNoir, which Gary Crutchley is illustrating with typical pace and excellence, I've been inspired (after meeting up with him and the emails that followed) to begin scripting Issue 3, even though it won't actually see print until spring 2013. These early drafts undergo plenty of revisions, mainly due to the fact that Gary throws in such great ideas, and are only ever seen by both of us as a 'Starter for 10'.
I've also been finishing off my contributions to Who On Earth Was Thaddeus Mist ? which is now coming together and looking awesome. We've all written our 'Bio's from with a Victorian slant, and attached appropriate photos. The Graphic Novel will be accompanied by a super little limited edition A5 hard cover book, that will contain a lot of extras from the creators involved and a few invitees. I can't wait to see both of these ready for print.
And finally ... another review of Whatever Happened To The World's Fastest Man ? has hit our facebook page (Accent UK Comics group), this time from www.talkcomix.com It's great to find that people are still coming across this book for the first time and enjoying as much as people did a year or so ago.

The Finished One-Eyed Robot.

I've managed to finish the silver One-Eyed Robot. He doesn't appear in Robot Shorts, sadly, but I'm pleased with how he's turned out.I managed to get some of the words to show through the paintwork, which is what I was trying to acheive, and the silver colour brings all the pieces together nicely I think. I've still got to finish Belmat's hands, but I'm getting there with him as well.

I must say that making these has been very enjoyable and I may do some more.

In other news, the cover proof for Robot Shorts has been sent out but is now in the local Royal Mail depot as nobody was in to sign for it ... drat. I'll pick it up on Saturday.

Also, it's EAGLE Awards time again and both Andy Bloor and The Fall Of The Wolfmen have been listed ... if you think them worthy then we'd welcome the vote.

So much to do, so little time ...

Well, it's been another really busy week. I won't bore you with the day job details, but it's been a challenging week. Who would have thought it'd prove to be so difficult to leave a job.

More interestingly, we've had a good week with regards Accent UK, see below, but sadly I've not really managed to find much time to draw for a while now. I did play around with a little character development for my Two Templars book, that I'll start once Strange Times is completed.

Not sure what his name will be, but I want this book to have a much darker, and scratchier, feel to it than Strange Times ... we'll see how it goes.

The guys over at Tales From The Parent's Basement, a comics review podcast broadcasting out of Utah, have joined forces for a special Best Of 2010, with the podcasters who are known a Burnt Weiners. Episode 76 can be downloaded over on talesfromtheparentsbasement.com, and Accent UK gets quite a few mentions ... and none of them bad :o) If you do listen in though I recommend that you have a pen and paper handy as there are a lot of recommendations and although I pride myself on only buying good comic books, I had only read about 25% of those mentioned.

The Fall Of The Wolfmen got a plug over on paradoxcomicsgroup.blogspot.com, as one of the 10 books that they recommend you pick up from this month's PREVIEWS (see scans in a blog post below this one), which is great.

Colin Mathieson and I will be at next Saturday's (that's the 22.01.11) Manchester Comic Mart, shifting some of our own collections, as well as selling the Accent UK titles, so do pop over if you are in the area. The venue has changed and it is now held in the Thistle Hotel (and not Sasha's), which is in Portland Street, Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester, M1 6DP. In case you haven't got Sat Nav, here's a map.

Best Comic of the Year You Probably Haven’t Heard Of ...

We didn't get the most votes and so didn't win ... hmmm ... wait a minute .... doesn't that mean we should have won as we were therefore the one most people hadn't heard of ?;o)
